Nice Shop Apron

About 43 years ago my new bride made me a nice shop apron, that wore out a few years back. Looked for a replacement and ended up with a Rockler Apron, which is pretty nice, although dust sticks to it, it's dark blue, which show the dust, and the pockets quickly fill with saw dust.

shop window insulation

I'm thinking to cut to fit pieces of 2" polystyrene for my shop windows for use in the winter (east and west) and summer (south). These are double hung windows with a good 2" recess where the foam should fit in fairly well. Other than it being 'pink' - it should be about an R10.

Shop Vac parts

I have a Shop Vac wet/dry vac. The shutoff switch that shuts off the motor when the water level goes high has broken. I called shopvac and they will not sell me the switch, they will sell a new head unit for $120 which is more than I paid for the whole vacuum.

Shop Vac Repair

I have 3 sears shop vacs with various states of bearing failure. They are starting to get very noisy. Has anyone replaced bearings on these things? Are there any "tricks" to know? Bob

New shop vac?

I'm in the market for a new shop vac. Is there a particular make & model anyone can suggest? Don't know if Shop Vac is better than Craftsman is better that Ridgid etc.

Machine Shop Retirement

In an ageing population there must be many who, like myself, have a machine shop complete with many useful accessories that is now seldom used except for light repair work. Has anyone arrived at a method of dispersing of the more uncommon items without having a factory clear out?

Screwfix - Bristol shop

Anyone else using Screwfix's new over-the-counter service ? Is this just in Bristol, or do they have others too ? I was driven there by yet another cocked-up mail-order. I imagine I'll use it quite frequently, as it has all the good bits about Screwfix and avoids the regular source of trouble.

shop light installation

I would like to hang a few 4 foot fluorescent shop lights. Preferred hanger would be 1/2" conduit, vertical, of course. Is there a conduit fitting available that can take the weight of the fixture (2 conduits each holding half a fixture).

Shop organizing... (pegboard)?

I want to reorganize my shop this winter and I keep coming back to using pegboard. Mostly because it's a standard that has been around since the 1950's so it is very non-proprietary, IOW I'm not locked into clip hangars made by one manufacturer and there is a lot of variety available for ...
