O/T: IRS Rebate Check

Back in those days "shop" wasn't considered a prereq for engineering school; however, Latin was. Think I would have rather had the "shop" classes than Latin. Lew

Old Shop Tools

I don't have a shop, room for a shop, or the skills necessary to align and maintain these tools. Are tools of this vintage generally desirable or are they junk?

Warm Shop Shoes

Does anyone have a recommendation on warm shop shoes or pads. My feet get cold from walking around the cement slab in my garage/workshop. I only heat my shop when I use it. The cement slab stays cold long after the shop warms up. I wear wool socks and loafers.

Shop-vac vacuum

I have had a Shop-vac Pro, model QPL625 18 Gal for a number of years. The on/off switch went bad the other day. A call to Shop-vac revealed that the on/off switch is not a replaceable part. You have to replace the entire power unit.

Miscellaneous shop observations

When some boards are placed on the table saw, they don't seem to want to move. However, when others are placed in the same spot they move easily. Might this mean the ones reluctant to move are flat? The 3M sand paper is good stuff. Every piece I've replaced has never had to be cleaned and ...

Labeling Shop Cabinets?

I have quite a few cabinets in my garage shop, and have recently been adding more (all made of wood). While I love the organization and keeping dust out of things, it is often difficult to remember what is stored in every cabinet and drawer in my shop.

Making shop rags

Does anyone have any hints on the most efficient way to cut them into shop rages? Doing them one by each with a pair of scissors is time consuming and a PITA.
