Why do circuit breakers go up for on and down for off?

I've just been to stay with someone who rebuilt a vintage car which had been found underwater for years in a flooded garage. When I say rebuilt, most of the parts he duplicated and created from sheet metal. It won competitions for 7 years. Nothing in his house is factory made, it's all made in his workshop. The door handles are deer horns, the curtain rails are tree branches from his own garden. The wood burning stoves are made from old gas cylinders. I want to be like that.

Do not get the cheapest one. I did and it's uncontrollable. The "trim" setting to make it hover stationary forgets the setting at random and suddenly flies off into a building, and even worse sometimes two of the directions swap for no reason. Last time it was forwards and left. F****ng impossible to steer. I crash it about every 3 minutes, often into my own face. I've found however the blades are tougher than the protector things round them, plus they come with spares, the protectors don't.

Not dropping the H but using the word "an" is ridiculous. Like "an hotel". "An historic event".

They don't seem to use H in French, but surely they are physically capable of making the noise?

I don't use either because I have no f****ng idea what a perfect tense is. I draw the line after past, present, future. There are no other places on the timeline!
