I watched 'Rabbit Proof Fence' the other night. The background of the story was Australia's attempt to breed the abo out of half-breeds by kidnapping suitable appearing children. There was a lot of interest in eugenics in the 1920s and '30s. Germany was not unique.

Von Braun and the rest of the German scientists must have gotten a laugh out of Huntsville AL in the '50s. I visited my brother who was working there in '58. I was disappointed that the colored drinking fountain didn't have colored water.

There are some evolutionary advantages to red-green colorblindness. People with red-green color blindness can differentiate between much more shades of khaki than unaffected people. This might help detecting camouflaged food in a green environment [1]. Color vision deficient people have a tendency to have better night vision and, in some situations, they can perceive variations in luminosity that color-sighted people could not [2]. However, it’s important to note that colorblindness can also cause difficulties in everyday life [3].

That never happened. What actually happened was that half cast kids were removed to allegedly give them a better life and most did end up with a much better life.

But what was done in Australia had nothing to do with eugenics.

Not even close to the danger presented by humans. I don't think there are any wolves right in this area but there are black bears and cougars. I see them every now and then when walking through the woods. I feel safer than I would walking through many US cities.

A friend lived in a popular recreational area for a couple of years. He maintained a low profile and avoided making visible trails to his campsite. It wasn't very far from a designated trail but most people don't go far from a trail.

I'm reading a novel 'Winter Games' by Daniel Church (not the British horror writer). It is set in the near future and the premise is dissident scientists film themselves in a temperature controlled room set to 59 F. There are fans to simulate an average wind speed of 7 mph. They are dressed in t-shirts or other light clothing. Their body temperature, heart rate and other metrics are displayed. Since a continuous webcam would be boring they only film a brief period every three hours. They are seated and do not exercise.

The filming goes on through various stages of hypothermia until their pulse rate falls to 0 and they are dead.

The significance of 59 F is that is the mean global temperature at the time that the climate alarmists are so concerned about. Given the conditions of the experiment humans will die at that temperature. Without artificial heating, be it a caveman's fire or the latest green energy scheme, and clothing, much of the earth is inhospitable to humans.

A wide range of temperatures is fine for a limited time.

When visiting somewhere in the countryside most people don't go that far away from their car.
