Who pays any attention to a standards committee?
I think France tried that once. Street View is cool. Most countries have a lot of English visible, but France is still mainly French. One does see BURGERS and TASTY PIZZA and such.

Before dictionaries were invented, starting about 1600 for English, people just said and spelled any way they liked. The idea of "correct" English came later.
Its a tad unlikely that those doing stuff like that care about what some sky fairy frowns on them doing.
If that is true, they are unlikely to be threatened by ending up in hell.
There is no real evidence that that caused her lack of confidence or messed up her whole life.
I thing the AC Cobra used an anti-clockwise speedo.
Even if it only burns his house, it causes work for the emergency workers that they don't need.
Ah, of course, you need more amps. The biggest I have is rated 6A. I don't trust those cables and sockets for more than that.
Oh.
Ok, it was a google link to the photo of the next link:
The rationale is that if you put one strand of wire, it will fuse before the 10 strands of the whole cable :-)
6.25A * 127 ≈ 800W :-)127 was a standard voltage here some time...
No idea.
Here all houses have circuit breakers.
Makes sense.
No, with red.
Each town also had a separate clock on local time. Do you think we should go back to that, too? And make Gujerati an official language?
Unfortunately, that's how some people think. Have you read the book Looking Out for Number One? The premise is people act out of self interest. Gain vs. cost. What about criminals? Risk of getting caught? Spend a year in jail for stealing a candy bar? Kids are stealing Walgreen stores blind in California. I think it's state law that no thefts under $1000 are jailable offenses. Walgreens is closing stores in some cities there. Did you behave as a kid in part because of punishment? "Spare the rod, spoil the child". Proverbs 13:24.
I wasn't able to access the NYT article. Is this one similar?
That's because of your stupid 120 volt obsession.
Probably against the USA's precious little code to turn it round. You'll be put in jail.
Cut it out with the double negatives. You could have said "that's common". Don't make us cancel things out to work out what you mean.
Bollocks. It makes more sense to have them 0-9, not 0 then 9 to 1.
We're not actually right handed. Right handed is as rare as left handed. Most of the population is ambidextrous, but since we're taught to write with the right hand, ambidextrous people use the right hand and get used to it.
Indeed, it's like the keyboard was invented before the mouse existed. Maybe it was, but it should be easy to change it round. But then designers have a 2 digit IQ and all went to art school.
It's quicker to type with two hands and move one hand to the mouse when required. The mouse on the left would be closer since we have the numeric keypad in the wrong place.
I astonished a left handed person by using their mouse with my left hand when they knew I was "right handed". I astonished a carpenter when I used a hammer with my left hand. The nail happened to be on my left, so why move?
It's not interesting at all. You're not right handed, you're ambidextrous like the majority of the population. There are the same small number of right handed freaks as there are left handed. You just think you're right handed because you were taught to write with your right hand and managed it.
I'm "right handed" and wear my watch on my right hand, because I prefer to move my right hand to look at it. I don't understand the common idea of wearing the watch on the left hand.
Of course she was flummoxed, she was a woman.
I automatically do non-precision tasks with my left hand, so my right hand is free for the precision ones.
I use a spoon. My Uncle (who is very posh) can't understand me using a spoon to eat peas. I scoffed at him taking 10 times longer to push them onto his fork.
Is that like leaving the toilet seat up? Don't women understand it's just as annoying to us when they leave it down?
M'colleague can write with either hand, and at the same time, and not necessarily the same words. And either of them can be in mirror language or normal. I guess she has a dual core CPU in her head.
It's so they can see where they're writing so they write in a straight line. They're just broken.
I'm sure they could write right handed if they were forced. School teachers ought to prevent these freaks from being different. We write from left to right, you need the hand out of the way of the written text.
I favour ballpoint over fountain because every time I've used a (very expensive) fountain pen belonging to someone else, I immediately snapped the end off. They're fragile pieces of outdated s*it.
Awww did you have a bad experience with one attacking you?
I went to school in the good old days when they didn't accept freaks. My friend had a strong Glaswegian accent. He was given a speech therapist so he could speak and have people know what the f*ck he was saying.
You should know that that's not what Proverbs 13:24 says. It is "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." Another translation is "He who holds back his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him early."
They are related to the incorrect version but includes nothing about spoiling the child, and that popular sentence is nowhere in the Bible.
And which of the several authors of Proverbs wrote this one, and did he claim this always applied, and was he always right? And would he say the same thing now?
And in answer to your question, I behaved properly as a kid because it was the proper thing to do and I have honor, and I wanted to please my parents and teachers, who seemed to have my best interest at heart. I can't remember ever being punished, and I know I was never hit or spanked. Not by my father who died when I was 8 or my mother.
Even when I ignored the instruction I got the night before, Don't jump off that wall, and I did it again the next day and broke my leg, I wasn't punished. In fact my mother was, I think the right word is chagrined that I got so many get-well presents. But she didn't take them away either
Well that's better than a penny. That used to be a famous remedy when the fuse kept blowing, putting a penny in the fuse socket. I'm sure it started many a fire.
But afaik we never had 6.25 circuits or 800W circuits. My building in Brooklyn was built in 1930 and it used 15 and 20 amp circuits, 14 and 12 gauge wire. 6.25 must have been made for some special purpose.
Oh, I just noticed the smiley.
Even the ones built bfore 1955? 1930?
Igualmente, Micky
