The background, one of my kids had my riding mower, and when they were moving I had to go get it. It's an old old Murray. Years ago I replaced the carburetor and had it running okay. When I went to pick it up the tank was dry and the battery flat; I put a small amount of gas in it and jumped it, so it started then and mowed fine.
I came back with a trailer a couple days later. Battery was flat again (or still) so we just pushed it on the trailer and brought it home. Now with a charger on it it turns over fine but never starts. I did add some fresh ethanol free gas, I can't speak for how fresh the stuff in my child's can was, but I didn't use much of it.
So what over two days makes the difference between starting and not? The bouncing on the trailer? Getting rained on? Any ideas? It acts like it doesn't get gas, but I can smell it so some gets through.
