whole house residential galvanized to pvc plumbing conversion

can this be done a little at a time?

does galvanized screw right into pvc?

is a special nipple required for hot water galvanized to pvc pipe?

Buy a Basic Plumbing book for homeowners.

Yes, there are fittings to transition. Beware of using female adapters; they tend to split apart, use male adapters.

Do NOT use PVC on Hot supply lines; use CPVC instead. Check with your city to see if either material is allowed.

CAUTION: Many older homes (up till around 1965) used the cold galv piping for elctrical grounding. If you chop it off, all of those grounds to boxes/fixtures will be lost.
