The only thing Thompson's has going for it is a lot of advertising.
CR recommends Cabot Decking Stain. They and another source I was just reading speak highly also of Wolman Durastain.
Whatever you use, you'll want something geared for decks.

Heard Thompson is not really all that great. True ?
Will pressure wash before applying.
