wall control for standalone dehumidifier

is it possible to setup a classic dehumidistat control to more precisely control ON/Off for a standalone dehumidifier?

many brands of 50/75/100 pint dehumidifiers are not very precise in their ON/Off settings in that they often tend to swing widely, for example turn Deh on when indoor RH% is 58 and turn Deh off when indoor RH% is 49-50 (range too wide at 9 to 10 percent)

could a classic honeywell control take over the ON/Off function and manage more precisely the RH% range, assuming a swing of 4 percent (example 58% On and 54% Off)?

assuming possible, connecting it to standard 115v power is no problem but how would it be connected to dehumidifier On/Off?

Honeywell used to make a H46E1013. This variant had a cordset with 3-prong recept built-in for the dehumid. Just plug into wall and hang the control from a nail in the wall. I have no idea if they still make it.

If you are handy, you could modify the H46 control to interrupt the Hot (Blk) in a heavy duty cordset. It's not safe to do; you will void all warranty, and probably kill/burn someone, blah, blah.

Incidentally, you want a control with P/N H46 C or E. The D and F suffix is for a HUMIDifier.
