vented gas logs - efficiency

I am considering getting gas logs. I am flip flopping between vented and ventless. I mainly want them for heat so it seems that ventless is the obvious answer but I don't like the safety issueds with ventless. If I went with vented, it would be in the 'direct vent' setup since I do not have an existing fireplace.

What is the realistic efficiency of vented gas logs? I visited a dealer that gave a demo on Regency logs. It seemed to give alot of heat with the blower. The web site states 82% efficiency for these logs

Has anyone used these? Can anyone recommend other brands?

If you want heat a stove that extends into the room is best. Actualy efficiency will be low vented 20% ? Because your chimney is sucking out heated air and is not designed for this. Get a real heater for heat, logs are for looks.

I thought you had a chimney-fireplace, so 82 % may be true
