Squeeky floor

Dec 22, 2003 1 Replies

Well, in follow up to an earlier post, I have solved a squeaky floor. We have a plywood subfloor over a crawl space and every time I walked out of our bedroom the floor would squeak. It only seemed to bother me, no one else. I thought about crawling under the house and screwing in a few big solid screws from the floor to the bathroom wall (this is where the squeak was coming from) however someone here suggested simply smacking some glued wooden shims between the wall and the floor.

I tried it and it worked!! I have walked in and out of our bedroom without bother for the first time in many years.

Thanks to this group!!!

Way to go, kimosabe, and I'm glad things worked out for you well. Personally, I'd have stopped at the point where the 10 other people were telling me I was hearing things, but that's just me. But if something you found here worked to your satisafction, you're a happier homeowner than some other people here ;)
