Sealing batt insulation to framing

Oct 24, 2005 1 Replies

Hello,

Is there a good way to seal batt insulation to framing, to prevent air leaks at this juncture? Or should I give up on the idea and focus on using a house wrap or thin rigid foam as an air barrier?

Cheers, Wayne

According to Wayne Whitney :

What would be the point of sealing batt insulation to framing, when the whole batt leaks air like a sieve?

Use a house wrap. Allows you to seal the whole envelope, not just where the insulation is.
