Retrofitting 3-prong plugs to 2-prong outlets
If you get a new laptop with charger, or anything else with a plastic case, do you see any problem with ripping out the ground prong and grinding the wide flat prong narrow enough that it will fit in any two prong outlet or extension cord.
I've done this sort of thing after the fact with no problem, but i've never before had the chance to consider a 3 versus 2-prong plug before I spend substantial money.
Spend $ 2 and get a 3 to 2 prong adaptor and quit f****ng up the plugs.
Or replace the outlet with a GFCI outlet and get protection AND 3 prongs
There are still a few non polarized ungrounded 2 wire outlets out there ...
More than a few - as well as 3 wire outlets installed with no ground wire - or installed with the neutral bonded to the ground pin.
You were in a location without cell phone service. That seems like the main reason for someone to physically go out to look for food.
There would have been cellphone serivce if I'd had a sim card that worked.
People on Trip Advisor said you could get a sim card anywhere, and I was out lookiong for one by 2PM but it was nowhere near as easy as they said. It took me parts of 3 days.
I did have the hotel's wifi, but I don't think many places were open at
I was eager to see my old n'hood, including at night. In 1971 I broke my leg in Guatemala and after a week in the hospital**, I lived 5 weeks in a hotel a half-block away. I would have stayed there but they didn't have parking like this one did.
**The doctpr said I could leave of I wamted. I was only there to keep my leg elevated, but the hospital included my choice of what to eat for lunch and dinner, a newspaper delivered to my bed every day, and a sponge bath every day by a cute nurse, so since it was only $10/day, it seemed worth it. I called the hotel and asked them to keep my room that week, and that was only a dollar a day. The orthopedist, who had done his residency in the US fwiw, charged 50 dollars for the X-ray, setting my leg, and the 2 or 3 follow-up appointments.All I could think of the night I broke my leg was that I had ruined my vacation, but it turned out to be a great experience, to live there an extra 6 weeks until I could walk without crutches. .And I don't limp.
But I go to various places and can't be changing the outlet at places I don't own.
