Condo ceiling is a spray-on paint with a very coarse texture, lumpy and uneven on purpose.
Cracks in this paint have appeared about 1.5 inches from the walls.
One advice was to apply caulk to the seam split and work it with a wet rag.
Any experience with this?

I agree that one should never use it.
Have to decide whether or not to scrape it all off. There must be dozens of folks with similar units who can tell me what they did. Just so backward that they do not have a user group, but will check on that as well.
