Pool Robot Problems

We have a one year old Hayward pool robot and my husband has misplaced the paper work that came with it. Anyway, it cleans the pool just fine but it only seems to turn left....and so it is cleaning and re-cleaning some areas and missing others. Has anyone else had problems like this? Is there a way to reprogram it? Thanks.

I just took my Hayward Ultra into the shop a few days ago. It was three years old. It needed a new mechanism that works the feet, and a new set of wings.

While I was there, I got to watch the guy work on it. I had it apart, but did not notice the things he found wrong with it. The gear box needs to be taken out and soaked in CLR or equivalent. The yokes on the foot mechanism come with bushings, and the replacements are ball bearings.

Other than just stuff stuck in them, they either work or they don't. If you feel comfortable about taking it apart, look for the obvious. Rocks, hair, string, etc. It is an easy thing to take apart, just be observant as to how it goes back together. I would just soak the gear box in white vinegar for a couple of hours, then flush it out. Examine the outer ends of the wings, as they have a line that it wears down to when they need changing.

If you don't feel confident, take it in for service. Mine was done in 45 minutes, and it works like brand new. Cost, about $90. I can do the overhaul now after watching him, but at the time, I could not.
