OT: My First Visit to A Kiosk-Only McDonald's

On the road last week, I stopped into an Atlanta McDonald's only to find that they had done away with the ordering counter staffed by cashiers.It was kiosks-only, then head to what looked like a small concierge table in front of the kitchen to pick up your order.The only available kiosk wasn't much bigger than an iPad and it was mounted at a bad angle for a tall person to read the screen. Also, I couldn't find how to enter the BOGO coupon I planned to use- so I ended up just walking out.Yup, $15 an hour for unskilled work sure is a good thing...

If like one man told me when the girl said something about the condoms, he said 'are those the largest you have'?

Some people are just too senditive. Or they were years ago.

About 40 years ago I had not been married very long. Wife and I were at the beach on vacation and she started her period. I walked a block or so away to a small store. Picked up a box of Kotex. There was a girl behind the counter about my age (mid 20's) she was a fun girl and mouthy. She was saying somehting out loud so other customers could hear here trying to embarras me. I don't recall how it went,but I said something back out loud that I think embarrised her.

One time I bought a jockstrap in medium, which was the correct size for my waist. The girl at the register said "Are you sure you don't need a large?" I did not get into a conversation about 'it ain't the size of the junk....'

If your job is order taker at McDonalds you are either 16,salary limited on Social Security or you should be ashamed. .

Won't take my job. People still have to design, program, build those kiosks. Educate yourself and you can be well paid to do one of those functions.

When I was in high school I read 'Player Piano', Vonnegut's first novel, that was set in a dystopian future where there were engineers and managers along with an underclass of people on make make work reclamation and recreation projects. It gave me pause since my projected career path meant I'd be one of the engineers putting people out of work.
