Mold Smell At Night

Well, as a followup, I managed to fix the source of the water leak inmy wall (overflowing sewer pipe that wasn't capped during a botchedlater-nineties remodel ).Anyway, that leak had caused a nasty mold infestation on my drywalland in the cabinets.So, I figured, with the water leak closed off, and the walls andcabinets scrubbed down and Cloroxed, and, all rotten wood or drywallremoved, then treated all of it with Concrobium, that I'd have themold smell licked.And, I was largely right, until it hit sunset, and the smell cameback. As it turns out, the mold smell comes back at night, and thenevery day, goes away. I'm guessing this is due to the condensation andthe night air in my extremely humid (South Louisiana) climate.Sooo:1. Does that seem to make sense that night air is reigniting my mold?2. So, what do I need to do? I'll be buying a dehumidifier, but Idon't really want to run it 24/7/365. Can I install some sort ofmoisture barrier between my masonry (concrete block) walls and thedrywall/wood bolted to it?Thanks in advance,-Matthew D. Diez

The mold in my home smells only at night too. I can’t find anything about it on the internet.

I noticed your post about nighttime mold smell from 13 years ago. I have the exact same problem. Leak behind the kitchen sink started a mold problem. I actually had a mold remediation company come in for $850. They demoed some of the cabinets and a 10 foot square area of drywall, and sprayed something (don't know what), then left an industrial dehumidifier and some big fans for 24 hours. At night, I still get a strong mold smell in the kitchen. I'm wondering if you ever got the problem under control and how. Thank you!
