Interesting video about Aluminum and Vinyl clad window problems

Jun 24, 2013 1 Replies

I was looking up some info on a problem with an aluminum clad sliding door that a friend has and ran across this video.

Some fluff, some science...

Interesting section on the cladding acting as an exterior vapor barrier and causing rot in colder climates as moisture tries to move from the interior of the house to the outside.

Vapour barrier should always go on the warm side of insulation. (If vapour permeable) So inside the building for heating applications, outside for colling.

Both sides if heating and cooling are the case.
