Floor Repair Job ?

I had my wood (white oak) floors refinished in Nov 03. FYI: 50 year old house in So. Cal. A section of the floor approx 6' x 5' needed to be removed and replaced due to water damage. The 6' x 5' section is in a corner in my dining room next to my kitchen. After the repair the floor looked good, the slats were nice and snug to each other. Now 2 months later there are noticeable gaps between several of the slats. Can someone tell me why this would happen? I'm getting ready to call the company that did the job but I'd like to be informed before I do. Did the guy not secure each board to the sub-floor, only the last board next to the wall? Bad wood slats? Is there any other info I can provide that will help determine what caused this to happen? I appreciate any helpful info. Thanks CP

Do you have and use central air. Were the boards aclimated to your house for several days and actualy checked for moisture content before install with a moisture meter, to match existing floor ? Probably not, they were brought in with more moisture than your existing floor and have now dried and shrunk. An instaler Screw up. Solution- redo it.
