In my experience, moderated usenet groups fared worse than unmoderated groups - both back-in-the-heyday and over the Long Demise to now. Any complaints about off-topic - - especially these days, especially in this group - - would seem moot to the extreme. But carry on if you wish .. flame as flame will .. but .. ... I'm a happy camper - listening to my new Thrift Store music CD Crystal Shawanda .. Look her up .. or don't. Your loss. John T.

I'm seeing the top third of a wee wood cask .. ? .. dunno. John T.

That's your interpretation. What I regard myself as doing is trying to stimulate group awareness and self-regulation. I think most of those who post here favor self-regulation as opposed to regulation imposed upon them. Why then all the flak?

I just posted a reply a few minutes ago to another post lambasting me for self-appointing myself as the group moderator. Please read that post. I agree with almost everything you wrote (above) except your musical taste. You have every right to enjoy your music; taste is subjective.

I did look her up , even listened to some of her music . If it weren't for thrift stores and autotune she wouldn't have a market .

Harsh. No auto-tune is used in her live shows and she seems to be doing well in Nashville these days - not an easy place to make it .. John T.

This is an unmoderated alt.* group. For better or worse, there's no way that anyone posting here has to worry about "regulation imposed upon them." That's not a thing here.

Off on another tangent. The topic isn't whether the group should be moderated or not. It's supposed to home repair. Why do you choose to post in this group rather than another?

My 20-year-old furnace broke last week. No heat. Control board was flashing the lockout code and my wife's teeth were chattering. I rebooted the furnace. No joy.

So I loaded my parts cannon and fired off a draft inducer motor at it.

Bullseye!

FWIW, I don't like lefty liberal Democrats much but Team Bezos and Amazon Prime sure saved the day...again.

If totally destroying our previously functional government is called saving the day. Welcome to tRumpcism.

So am I (does over 80 count as old in your book?). It doesn't grant a person (not you Cindy) permission to be willfully ignorant.

Why do people get grumpy as they get older? Cognitive Changes: Aging can bring about cognitive decline, including memory loss or difficulty processing information, which can lead to frustration and crankiness.

You're mentally younger than a lot of people here.

Because they know they're out of time for dealing with bullshit.

Yes, they both demonstrate it.

Your being presumptuous. I've been grumpy all my life.

Thank you Cindy. Lovely of you to say that.
