As long as we have power ...

I can at least flush the toilets . I wouldn't drink the water from our well , but the toilet don't care . Might get tiresome hauling it in by the bucket , so I'm going to rig a hose to fill the tank as needed . Flip the switch dear , the tank's full . I SAID FLIP THE DAMN SWITCH !!

Warning, this can be misinterpreted.

Some years back we had a death in the family and relatives gathered, packed into a small house with one toilet, during a blizzard of course.

And on top of that - bottom of that? the toilet water supply broke. No problem, the tub was right next to it, I put water in a 5 gallon bucket and told everybody to flush that way until I fixed the toilet.

I failed to give specific enough instructions. I assumed they would pour enough into the toilet bowl to start a siphon and put the bucket back in the tub.

Nope, the kids used it to fill the toilet tank, which required removing the tank lid, which they dropped. It shattered into a zillion pieces on a tile floor, making a noise you wouldn't believe at 3:00 AM.
