A Shower Base Question

I presently have a stone (not really sure what material it is, but it's white/grayish with black specs) shower base that would have to be cracked into small pieces to be removed. The base is structurely sound, but old (approximately 40 years old) and has lost it's luster. It's a neo type base. Is it possible to cover this base with a fiberglass neo base that would go over the stone base or am I asking for trouble? Any advice is appreciated. Thanking everyone in advance.

Check with the franchise company linked below. I used them to remodel my bathroom and a cousin subsequently had them cover his tub with acrylic. It's a national franchise so there may be a local outlet. I don't know if they cover shower pans but they do tubs and their website implies that they do showers.
