Teflex=AE is a new polymeric water based disinfectant with a wide range of applications. Teflex=AE contains bactericide, fungicide, virucide and algaecide properties. These biocide properties are based on the presence of repeating guanidine moieties in their chain. Positively charged guanidine groups bind to the negatively charged microbial surfaces. The hydrophobic carbohydrate chain that bind guanidine groups penetrate cellular walls, leading to cell permeability, and ultimately, to the disintegration of cellular walls. Teflex=AE is effective against the majority of pathogenic micro organisms, including those causing tuberculosis. Teflex=AE belongs to an exclusive family of biocides capable of destroying both aerobic anaerobic micro organisms. Teflex=AE suppresses growth of most bacteria and fungi at concentrations as low as 10-3-10-5 %. At concentrations

1-2% Teflex=AE suppresses tuberculosis and viruses. Due to its polymeric nature, Teflex=AE forms a thin film on the treated surfaces. This film provides long term biocide protection that may last from one week to several months. In some cases this protection may even last for years, depending on the concentration of Teflex=AE, the nature of treated surfaces and the particularity of usage. At high concentrations, and especially when used together with certain coating agents, Teflex=AE provides protection that will last for at least 5 years. Teflex=AE is odorless and colorless and its pH is close to neutral. Teflex=AE is not corrosive on any surface or material, and is a suitable treatment on all kinds of surfaces. The ingredients of Teflex=AE are not toxic to humans or warm-blooded animals.

Teflex=AE has successfully passed the following efficiency tests: ISO/FDIS 22610 : Surgical drapes, gowns and clean air suits, used as medical devices, for patients, clinical staff and equipment -- Test method to determine the resistance to wet bacterial penetration. EN 1276: Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industrial, domestic, and institutional areas. Test method and requirements. EN 12054: Test for evaluation of bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics for hygienic and surgical hand rub and hand wa sh used in human medicine. EN 1650: Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of fungicidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industrial, domestic and industrial areas. EN 12791: Chemical disinfectant and antiseptics.Surgical hand disinfectants. Test methods and requirements.
