light will not turn on i replaced switch and i have power at light fixture but not at light switch

Do you have a toggle switch with lighted handle, illuminated in OFF position? When you say "light will not turn on", do you mean the light fixture light or the handle illumination light? I ask because in the next sentence you say that you "have power at the light fixture but not at the light switch".

Anyway, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that it's the handle illumination light that does not work, which is the most common issue I see asked here after a switch replacement. Check out the wiring diagram below (it's for Leviton 1461-LHC lighted handle switch, I added notes in red). Unlike simple single pole switch, a lighted switch requires a proper grounding connection for the handle light (indicator) to work. Check your ground (often bare copper) wire and see if it's connected to the switch rather than just wire-nut together with the rest of the ground wires in the box, which is the most common arrangement.
