growing tropical plants in seattle, wa

Hello, I am wondering if anyone has managed to grow tropical plants in the Seattle,WA, or NW USA area ?

Are you aware of any resources that I can contact to do the same ?

websites, ppl, nurseries- anything.

I am particularly interested in guava, papaya, jasmine and banana...As for the banana I dont much want them to flower and bear fruit as much as I like to see them all green and happy. I am hoping to have some measure of success.

Or is it a pipe-dream ?

There is an incredible nursery in Tacoma called 'Jungle Fever Exotics'. I haven't been in there for several years but still drive by on occasion. You'd swear you were in the tropics by the looks of the incredible variety of plants but they are all hardy in this area. The people who run it are a loaded with good information and suggestions and just all around very nice to boot. I just looked up their address and number in the phone book for you.

When I went down there you had to call ahead to let them know you were coming. It's worth the trip just to see these amazing plants. It's right close to Point Defiance Park, have fun!!
