last batch of tomatoes

finished up last night for the canning season, 20 quarts.

this is very early for us to be done but the plants don't have enough on them now to do a batch with. we'll just pick and eat them when they're ready.

dry bean picking continues. still have some gardens to check out and finish going through, but most of the early and important beans are already picked. shelling them all out will take some time though. good thing i have winter to do that. :)

squash is coming along, melons are doing ok, some were watery due to a lot of leaves getting powdery mildew early in the summer.

it has been a strange season, but on the whole we're doing ok.

roof leaks may finally be fixed, the roofing contractor replaced the vents that the previous roof replacement used. they just weren't made with a tall enough lip and water was able to come up and over them during heavy rains. i.e. they weren't the right vent for the job. i'm tempted to write a letter to the previous roofing contractor to tell them and perhaps they'll reimburse for the expense (not likely). still it was nice to get through the last heavy storm and not have any leaks.

otherwise things continue on... :)

hope everyone is well?
