Er - what are you referring to? Tying inner and outer skins of cavity wall together, or those big metal Xs or Ss on ancient collapsing cottages...?
Do you mean cermaic wall tiles.
If so yes it is possible to do it yourself if you are a reasonable DIY'er. go to the link below and it gives you an idea of how to do it.
