Vaillant echo plus boiler

This morning, it was snowing and rather cold and the heating was not working. Despite trying everything, I gave up and phoned britishgas as we have a maintenance on tract with them.

I could not understand why the hot water was fine but no heating. I noticed the red light was not coming on the Danfoss central heating receiver by the boiler. The sender Danfoss sender was operating o, but the receiver was doing nothing.

I put new batteries in the sender, just to check ,and hey presto - red light came on on the receiver and the heating started to come one.

So - check the controller batteries!

Better still, throw it away and fit a wired type.

Batteries are *the* most annoying things in the world, be they in wireless controllers, TV remote controls, smoke alarms, or whatever.

My general principle: never buy anything which requies batteries unless you *really* have to. Anything which can be wired in to the mains should be, and anything which needs batteries for emergency stand-by (smoke alarms) should have integral rechargeable batteries that last for years without needing servicing, not stupid ordinary alkaline cells that go flat such that the damn things goes "beep" at you to tell you to do something about it.

would you rather they didn't go "beep" and just went flat without telling you?
