Some kind of bug or beetle in the bathroom

Hi,

My housemate has seen a few bugs in the bathroom - I haven't seen them. He describes them as:

Black about one centimeter in length A fairly flat body Short antennae

They appear in the bath and around the plughole. Maybe 3 or 4 at a time.

The bathroom is on the ground floor.

Obviously if I saw one I could capture it and take a picture.

Anyone any idea what these might be? Where might I look for their source or nest?

I don't want to pay loads to Rentokil for them to spend time finding nothing.

Any idea how I select a reputable pest controller if that is what is needed?

Clive

Check out Silverfish. They look black in some light and silver in other light angles, Bastids to exterminate apparently. I find them fascinating little critters and leave 'em be.

Do they burrow into your flatmate's flesh and run around under the skin? If so this could be the Curse of Imhotep, and a professional exterminator will then be needed...

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember Clive saying something like:

Woodlice. They love dampness and probably hide under the bath during the day. They are quite harmless.

Do they move very fast?
