Replacing radiator with a smaller one!

We've just bought a house and my other half's gone beech wood crazy. S

far shes we replace the skirting board and door frames with beec venered skirting and door frames. Most of the carpets throughout th house has or will be replaced with beech laminate flooring and all th internal doors are being replaced with beech doors too. However th staircase in the house is open-case and made from solid pine wood Unfortuantly the wood has been stained and varnished mahogany. I doub its possible to be sanded/planed the wood back down to pine an re-stain it with a beech stain as it looks to has seeped deeply. I'v heard of people fitting laminate flooring to stair cases before but no open-case stairs.

Anyone had this problem before or have any idea on how to turn a ol fashioned mahogany stair case into a modern beech stair case? An suggestions or advice appreciated ;)

Here's a couple of pic's to give you a better idea of what im talkin about... sorry about the quality they were took on a mobile.

If it were me, I'd consider just replacing it - it doesn't look a massive job from your pictures

replacing the stair case may not be a bad idea. i removed some of th

trim and found there was a small gap between the wall and main sid panel. from what i can see theres no pins or bolts securing it to th wall in any form. therefore it looks to be fastened only at the top an bottom of the staircase.

where can i get a replacement staircase and how much would one of thes roughly cost? i cant remember ever seeing staircases in the local di stores (B&Q, homebase, etc).

also, i wouldnt replace my wife... i'd simply burry her under th pattio which she has planned next. that'll probably have to be beec too ;
