OT CO2 emissions due to decline

"Global emissions of carbon dioxide are likely to stall and even decline slightly this year, new data suggests. Researchers say it is the first time this has happened while the global economy has continued to grow. The fall-off is due to reduced coal use in China, as well as faster uptake of renewables, the scientists involved in the assessment add. But they expect the stall to be temporary and for emissions to grow again as emerging economies develop".

It will be interesting to see what the global temperatures do, and if they fall, whether the climatologists will claim cause and effect.

It's a bit like the millennium bug. It never happened, but was that because of all the precautions or because it never was going to happen anyway?

If temperatures do fall, and it's a big 'if' bearing in mind the poor correlation between levels of CO2 and global temperatures over the last fifteen years or so, then will it be due to the fall in CO2 or one of the other theories bearing fruit, such as Abdussamatov's

or Zharkova's,

both of which predict a cooling over the next decade or so, but have been roundly dismissed by the 'warmistas'.

Or perhaps just due to random fluctuations of a chaotic system between two attractors. We'll probably never know in our lifetimes.

Sounds like the temperatures aren't rising and the scientists want a reason without having to say the models don't work.

That would imply they have some integrity and shame left...
