Kitchen Worktop Template Online

Does anyone know if there are any online copies of a worktop template with dimensions etc? i.e. similar to this

but to scale or with marked dimensions?

What makes you think that one isn't to scale?

It may be but it does not state it is - would rather go for one that states it is when cutting the worktops. Don't fancy having to buy more due to hoping it was to scale

On the assumption that my maths are correct, it appears that the drawing is to scale.

Give this brilliant little freeware gem "Screen Caliper" a try:

If you are making your own router template for the mitre joint, just make sure the corner radius of internal and external cuts on the worktop will be equal given the particular guide bush and cutter you intend to use. You do this by arranging for the corner radius of each edge of the template to have the required offsets, as follows:

internal corner radius = desired worktop joint radius - offset external corner radius = desired worktop joint radius + offset

... where:

offset = ( guide bush diameter - cutter diameter ) / 2

Assuming you're intending to make the template itself with a router, you'll need the means of cutting reasonably accurate arcs, whether you copy a proprietary template or design your own. Designing your own is likely to be more accurate than a copy, allows the template to be tailored to any guide bush and cutter you already have and gives you complete flexibility in the choice of worktop joint radius.

e.g. for a 12.7mm cutter with a 30mm guide bush and a desired worktop joint radius of 20mm, start with a pair of parallel lines 30mm apart and another pair at 45 degrees, aim for a 11.35mm radius arc on the internal edge and a 28.65mm radius arc on the external edge. Cut the template as accurately as you're able, but small errors (upto a millimetre or so) shouldn't be too noticeable once the worktop is cut and assembled with joint sealer (after a bit of fettling with sandpaper if necessary).

As a matter of interest; what material are you planning to use for the template? I use MDF with a coat of clear glaze for the templates I make (6mm for templates used with a 1/4" router, 9mm for templates used with a 1/2" router).
