Fridge bulb

Is there any internal difference between a 15W SES fridge bulb and a 15W SES clear pygmy bulb? The former is around twice the price in the sheds and supermarkets.

Doubt it. I know oven bulbs are different, they're designed to cope with much higher temperatures so things like the solder bump on the end is different etc. Can't see why the not-particularly-low temperatures in a fridge would bother a standard bulb.

I think the fridge lamps are designed for heavy duty - SWMBO slamming the door as she rushes around multi-tasking...

Just take the old one to the local hardware shop, match it and pay the 40p ffs.

I think they're hardened glass to reduce the risk of glass contamination of food, but standard ones are fine if its fully covered rather than wire framed.

You'll probably find they're a different shape, with the pygmy bulb being likely to be considerably greater in diameter.
