3D kitchen planner

I am giving the girlfriend.s parents a hand with a new kitchen they plan to install.

I see IKEA do an online planner. I gave it a quick try and it seems OK. Has anyone got any other recommendations for a free kitchen planner or is the IKEA one as good as it gets for a quick easy design process.

Cheers

I tried the IKEA one, but ended up using SketchUp, you can make components for e.g. 500mm base unit, 1000mm base unit to speed things up ... still a bit fiddly ...

Ohh, that does look nice. When I have time later I will see if I can get the room sizes correct (a funny shaped room). By later I mean after the England match.

Thanks

Although I had my kitchen refitted professionally, I used the ALNO planner to create each of the shortlisted designs (1), and compared them by moving around the 3D views. Pretty easy to use, and a worthwhile exercise.

(1) Although some of the suppliers had shown us their designs on screen, being able to sit at home and compare and contrast was really useful.

Seconded, the Alno software is definitely the way to go for establishing "the look". My only reservation with these is that different manufacturers seem to have different "standard" methods of negotiating corners, with different lengths of unit extending out from the corner IYSWIM. If you base a design on one manufacturer's carcasses and then change supplier, there can be significant differences.

I may have fallen foul of this with the positioning of some behind-unit sockets :(.

Or download the Howdens components from the 3D warehouse.

So know you now know how it feels to do my job:-)

You look at a kitchen plan, install the sockets etc and then they fit a different kitchen!

I still am having a little trouble setting up the room size with the Alno software but I have TBH not given it more than 20 minutes effort yet.
