Unusual table lamp - need shade & retaining ring

Hello,
I came across an odd iron lamp with a downward facing socket which likely uses a glass cone or globe shade. The shade would slip over the exterior threads on the socket and fasten in place with a retaining ring. The lamp works fine, but I have been unable to locate a shade or retaining ring in local shops specializing in shades. They always know what is needed but they don't have it.
Here is a link to a photo of the lamp... (I hope it works)

I'd be grateful for any assistance in locating a source for the shade & ring (and also for the proper name of whatever type of lamp this is.)
Many thanks in advance.
... Bob

i rewire any old lamp with a new polarized plug so the common goes to the outer shell of an incandescent socket. this may allow you more choices if needed. if this is a mogul base bulb here is socket info: http://catalogs.shoplocal.com/hdsupply/index.aspx?circularidy80 i saw a glass threaded lampshade on ebay. expired at: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i18.ebayimg.com/01/i/07/7a/1e/83_2.JPG&imgrefurl=http://cgi.ebay.com/Old-Threaded-Glass-Lampshade_W0QQitemZ230004176543QQihZ013QQcategoryZ20708QQcmdZViewItem&h 8&w 0&sz=8&hl=en&sig2=cZj_fkW3Q9yslGKgZpnxTA&start=3&tbnid=LZWeLhRAfIvYcM:&tbnh3&tbnw4&ei=AZ2pRYC5NY2WiQGJ64S1BQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlampshade%2Bthreaded%26svnum%3D30%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26newwindow%3D1%26safe%3Doff also see ebay search: vintage lampshade ring thread http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&catref &sourceidptaincaveman&from=R10&satitle=vintage+lampshade+ring+thread&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&fts=2&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sacqyop=ge&sacqy=&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&sabdlo=&sabdhi=&saprclo=&saprchi=&sass
