The db helps and every 3db makes it twice as loud, but you need to be coner ed about low HZ. I mean a radio transmitter can brodcast for hundreds of m iles but your ears don't hear it standing 5 feet from the transmitter. The human body with or out hearing can feel low frequencies. Without getting into speciality ringers anyting electronic off a little tiny circit board n o matter how loud cannot put out low frequencies. Best bet is a battery po wered remake of a 6 inch cartoonish looking sized clock. Why? Because the hammer and metal bells are bigger. Duh it has worked since even before hea ring aids. $7 to $8 dollars like this one...
