We have a heat pump, the compressor will come on in the cold mode, but not the heat mode. Does anyone have any ideas?

On a call for heat if you get no response, neither the indoor fan or outdoor unit come on, your problem is likely in the thermostat. More details of system and symptoms would help as all heat pump system are not the same in how the low voltage is wired. Has the thermostat been updated recently?
