Carrier Wall Pac Series 52S

Hi, Winter is nearing and I noticed heat is intermittent, any suggestion about fixing the problem very much appreciated. This is keeping our sun room warm for the plants. TIA,

I noticed that unit has a heat pump. Maybe that's the culprit if it's not working normally.

Hi, Yes it does. Last winter in one of coldest night it was running in heat mode and I found out it quit some time during the night. When summer came it was working fine in cooling and when I checked heating then it worked. Now heat won't come on again. I have to pull the unit out from wall mounted sleeve to do some trouble-shooting. One thing I noticed is the temperature control knob when turned end to end I don't think it does not click any where. According to schematics it has 3 terminals for heat or cool. I'd start looking there first. Any thing electrical I can tackle being an EE, if it leads to compressor or refrigerant I am no good with them at all. Thanks much for responding. I wonder where I can see IPB (illistrated parts breakdown) of this unit?

I think I located a parts breakdown searching on "user manual" or "tech manual" along with the name of the product. Try both. IIRC, I was only able to view one page at a time, but I found it in minutes. Good luck! Maybe, hopefully, there is a fuse somewhere?

Hi, Bill Thanks, indeed the capillary thermostat STDP switch is bad. Heating side contacs must be burnt out, there is no continuity but cooling side still works OK. p/n of the unit is HH22UC075. Now I have to find a replacement B4 it gets cold up here. One disadvantage living in Canada when one needs some thing like this. I am looking for an outfit who will ship one to Canada. If I jumper across burnt out terminals heating element(6 KW rated) comes on OK. Thanks again, Tony in Calgary

Hi, Found one at Shorty's HVAC parts in Indiana. Price was reasonable at

66.00 a piece. Now the unit will be running soon for cold weather. Tony
