what is?

what is the name of the stuff that grows wild in the south, covering everything it comes into contact with? i believe it started with a K.
would it survive up here in wisconsin (zone 5)?

it's growing in upstate NY, zone 5b or 6. it freezes back in the winter mostly, but it doesn't die completely. lee
