Shiny, 'rainbow' like, mostly golden, about 3/8" to 1/2" long attacking my eggplants. Does anyone know what they are?

Colorado beetles would eat eggplants but they are not shiny or rainbow like. Japanese beetles? They fit the description. Do they eat eggplants? Probably, but I don't grow eggplant and we don't have very many Japanese beetles here (Not yet, more every year though).

Looked in a book. Seems like Japanese beetles allright. Just have to pick them off every day. Thanks. VR, TWH
