I have to scrrew a fitting to a wall and it comes with screws and greyrawplugs. To save messing up the wall, what drill bit size matcheswith a grey plug?

If you can, throw them away and use red plugs and decent screws.(Seriously!)The grey plugs generally provided are cr*p and the screws too spindly (thatwas a generalisation, of course, it may not be so for you).

They were a bit grim, but the crank-the-handle hammer Rawldrill still sells for between a fiver and tenner on yaBe.

The trouble with that is the "most" part. I normally use 7mm blue plugs, because I've a few thousand from one maker that I got in an auction. My tiny plugs are red. If you can't trust the coding, then it's not usable.
