It's windy when it's dark.

People will just have to stop being wimps and wasting energy on heating. Energy should be used for productive things like TV sets.

Not quite. For 'nuclear power station' read 'substation'. At it's peak the CERN complex uses 200MW, dropping to 80MW when the LHC isn't in operation. See https://home.cern/about/engineering/powering-cern
