Rockwool & Proximity to LV Halogen

Hi There ,

As a rule of thumb I tend to allow the reccomended air gap + 10 percent this allows for slight movement of the rockwool after installation. I would also site the transformer in free space if it is of the toroidial kind, they run warm anyway and dont like thermal insulation, or better still use an electronic transformer. These prolong lamp life as they "soft start" the lamp and can be dimmed with a normal dimmer should you want that.

Best of luck

Jim

does anyone have an opinion as to the safety of using rockwool flexi (firesafe) directly adjacent to 20W LV halogens ?

X is the joist = is the rockwool ~ is the plasterboard

the gap above the lamps & transformer is within design specs but I intend to leave zero gap between the plasterboard and the rockwool (and around the edges of the ceiling/joists) to aid sound proofing from the bathroom above, for obvious reasons.

any reason to be concerned with the above installation ?

many thanks
