Patching a rubber tyre

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember Matty F saying something like:

I knew nothing about this feat until now. I'm impressed by the reliability of the basic machine. I've always had a soft spot for the old grey Fergies, anwyay.

I'm surprised they did anything with the original rubber in those temperatures. It must've been like brick.

Strewth mate!

Could you get the origial tyre manufacturer's (assuming they're in busnness) or who ever owes Fergusons now to help?

Do you want to keep the hole in the tyre sidewall as is - as a hole?

If so I guess you've have to reinforce a section of the inner tube so it would hold against the pressure.

Frankly, looking at the picture I'd fit new tyres and put the old ones on display. I would not trust those tyres at all.

I'd keep the original tyres around (on display) but I'd take them off the tractor. They look really fragile. Who knows when or how they might fail next....

The condition of the tyres doesn't matter if the tractor is on axle stands.
