Did... would it squeeze flat between Onduline, or would it separate the sheets?

I found Onduline cheap & cheerful, easy to use, but that it didn't last very well, a few years and it required maintenance. The seams opened (as it would if the mastic strip didn't flatten) leaves got in, moss grew. And stepping on Onduline requires boards and sheeting, unless in the warmest weather, when it's quite flexible. But getting leaves etc. off my low-pitch roof in fall was tricky. And letting the leaves be led to water backing up, and running under the sheeting. Scraped the leaves and moss out, squirted a sealant under the joints, weighed them down until set. Then painted the lot with bituminous paint, which gave more seal on the joints. OTOH, any cracks or breaks are quickly and easily fixed with a bucket of repair mastic, and none of the materials are expensive or difficult to use.

I have since replaced the Onduline with metal sheeting. Much more work to install, but zero maintenance since.

I covered a shed roof with box-profile steel a few years ago and found it easy and quick. I left the original felt in place and just put the steel on top. It was a quick job, didn't cost much more than Onduline would have done, is a much more robust solution and can be walked on with care. The only thing I'd do differently is to pay the small extra for plastic coating rather than paint - the paint has been OK but I used plastic-coated on the walls and it looks better. If the roof isn't too long the panels can be ordered as one length. To the OP: fix your roof slope and fit box-profile steel.

Ah -- ok then! Like from a caulking gun, but more even, and less drips&mess...

I found and used a compressed foam tape, rolled tight, sticky sided, with paper tape on the sticky side. Apply by unrolling & pulling off paper tape from sticky side. Assemble, and the tape expands by maybe fivefold within hours to days, depending on the temperature. Good for sealing irregular gaps, and better than mastic in some applications because the foam remains flexible.

Flexible coverings generally can do such low pitches, eg felt, epdm etc. I don't know a board that can. It would need to handle water pooling & freezing on it, plus large overlaps that will trap water. Most boards would function but have reduced life. If you're able to add even a little to the slope that would really help.
