Leaking waste pipe

Just fitted a shower-tray; one of the stone resin jobs you have to bed in cement, and was very pleased with the result as it seems firm as a rock. However, on testing the water integrity by sticking my hand through a gap in the plinth (now *so* glad I left that!) I find that the waste pipe is dripping slightly. I've managed to extract all the components with some difficulty, and it will be even harder replacing them, so I want to be sure I cure this in one go. Fittings are mostly the push-fit type with internal o-rings (2 bends and two short lengths of pipe under the tray), and yes they do look a bit grubby and the pipework scratched, so by polishing up the pipe and cleaning thoroughly, hopefully that will do the job? Is there anything else I can do to ensure a perfect seal - grease/vaseline are bad news here IIRC?

I can't really change the type of fittings now, as there isn't enough room to manoeuvre under the tray...

Thanks David

Well, David, funnily enough I was browsing in one of the sheds this afternoon and have found just what you need! It's a flexible 1.5" waste pipe about 18" long, with a conventional O-ring seal on either end; just what you need for underneath a shower tray to minimise the number of joints in the barely-accessible space. I reckon that given the number of elbows you've got under there, you could reduce the number of joints in that area from 5 to only 1.

Can they be used instead of a trap? They certainly bend easily to that shape and look as though they would be just as easy to dismantle to clear a blockage.

They aren't intended for that, but probably could be. However, if you bent it (mine at least) into a u-bend shape, it wouldn't stay in that position unless tied or fixed down somehow; it would tend to revert to a straight tube. So I can't see any real benefit in trying it; as I used a one-piece low profile trap in my shower, so it wouldn't even reduce the number of potentially leaky interfaces under the tray.
