We ate in a sushi restaurant in Japan where you ordered via an iPad at the end of the table and the food came via a "model" railway (styled on a Shinkansen) that ran at shoulder height round the outside of the restaurant.

About a decade.
Wouldn't the grub have gone cold by then?
"...gas price higher than I have ever seen it and a power cashout price of £995 /MWh! Thankfully my team were on the right side of it!!"
Cool. Hadn't twigged what that was.
Shows the different profiles in different countries. UK is pushing 50 GW total demand and France is closer to 75 GW. Smaller population as well, though more spread out.
I assume the big difference is our use of gas for heating.

Hucker is too stupid to understand this. He once thought that the CPS stood for Child Protection Services! He is a well known prick.

Probably, yes. Virtually all French heating in the countryside is by electricity from what I've seen - plus wood burning stoves.
Somewhere a long time ago I read that Paris never really got into burning coal in domestic grates and wood, easily obtained from woods in the surrounding countryside was preferred instead. Hence for much of the 19th and 20th centuries Paris buildings stayed a lot cleaner than London with its Soot covered buildings. Its took London about 50 years till enough buildings got cleaned enough that you can see the colour of the stone they are built of rather than being obscured by black stains.
