What about that adhesive foam used to hang mirrors, as a draught excluder or the stuff used in lagging pipes? If you are certain that you are never going to need to move the drive ever again squirt a spot of cavity foam on the tray insert. Or use a high modulus silicon mastic.

I'd be wary of that though. It contains acetic acid as a catalyst.

What is that polythene foam used in supermarket pakaging trays such as for meat like?

screws). It was still running after 3 years and hadn't moved. It was mounted horizontally.. I doubt if it would work vertically.

Or go around the back and root in their skip.

How about making your own drive bay with meccano and rubber mounts? It is the perrenial fault with most desktops and The Death Of Linux: Not enough space, no racking and a lack of sockets for the ribbons.

I have foan like that bought on Ebay in the model aircarft section. Its called 'depron' and is pretty much what yoir fish'n'chips come in. Its a good structural foam.

THICK foam - polystrene, you get from builders merchants in several grades - white is light and fluffy, pink is denser and blue is quite hard and extruded.

Its not clear what you are after and in what quantities though.

I need a very little amount - about the amount shown in the pictures (prob

1cm thick) and (10cm by 15cm would do it)

Just fix the cradle properly and you won't need foam. A cradle is more than sufficient ;o)

get a few fish and chip trays (or meat trays from s/mkt) , eat the chips and use PVA to layer enough of them together to get the thickness you want.

Takes a long time to dry but it sticks.

copydex works too,

A good source of EPP foam is from the packing around better quality electronic equipment. Or a scrap cycle helmet (scrape brains out first)

Most foam will cut with a bread knife and sand well if light pressure is used to avoid tearing.
