Exterior Polyfilla

If I do a patch repair on an outside wall using this stuff, anyone know if it's waterproof as it stands or does it need to be painted? Get a lot of rain at this time of year!

What about wood as in the edges of window sills? I know its best to get them replaced as the rot will spread, but there does seem to be pretty sollid wood further back from the edge underneath. Brian

With wood like this it's better to take it back to something relatively sound, treat it with Ronseal wet rot wood hardener and use a two part filler such as car body filler or the equivalent/same marketed as wood filler. Screw some (stainless steel) screws into the hardened wood before filling to give the filler a key.

After "bodge" repair like this don't forget to seal any hairline cracks between the filler and stone/brickwork with a bead of silicone.
