Chucking stuff out

Because I am thought to be too old to do anything useful any more, my son and daughter have been clearing the loft of 65 years worth of accumulated electronic components. Many are way out of practical use nowadays except for a few power transistors. It awful to see large metal canned paper capacitors, dozens of power transformers and 4" moving coil meters being sent off to the dump. Never mind that's progress.

OK. I think some of those are people not reading the description because the mobile app doesn't show it, but seems some don't look at the photos either :(

I suppose putting stuff in the description is mostly covering you for that when the offshored customer service assistant spends 20 seconds looking at their SNAD claim.

I just create the bare listing on the phone, ie just type anything in as the title. Add the photos and then move to the computer where you can go and change the listing to be correct.

It works on iOS, but not iPadOS (the app store has a filter for that). It works on Android, but only as a narrow phone app with giant black bars on each side when on a tablet.

On ChromeOS (on an x86 machine) it just crashes.

The word on the street^Winternet is that ebay de-prioritises listings with reduced fees, so they don't sell as well or for lower prices because people's searches don't find them. I don't know if that's true or not.

have you tried Bluestacks on a win PC> you can run android apps on that.

There is also supposed to be an Android sub system now for Win 11.

that reminds me, every time I click on List with displayed fees.... I then get a splash page offering an additioanl service where they will place the listing higher in searched listings in return for an additional fee..

The fee structure is rather oddd

it can be just 99p for an item that is worth a fair bit right up to s fee of £4.99 for an item of really low value like a light bulb!

No, but there's not much point as Amazon's app is crap. The ebay Android app did work full screen on my ChromeOS on a PC lashups ('brunch' and 'FydeOS'), but it would crash when talking to the camera (it's a 2013 Surface Pro 2, so not even officially supported by the lashups, although it mostly works). Installing Win11 and WSA is an option, but the camera isn't that great anyway. It was just an experiment to repurpose some elderly hardware really.

Discovering that the postman will collect parcels was a game-changer for me. Stuff which would otherwise have been skipped now gets sold on eBay.
